Here’s one of my own mixes from 2010 (I’m in the process of centralizing everything at Mixcloud). Dub Steppin’ is my vision of dubstep and bass, featuring artists like Bassnectar, DJ Vadim, ill.Gates, Beats Antique, Joker, and Deceptikon. Lots of good grooves and deep bass, but none of that bro-step everyone loves to hate (and hates to love). An earlier version is still available for download on my old Soundcloud.
Bassnectar. Remixes from ill.Gates, Beats Antique, Steve Aoki & The Glitch Mob. This might not be the best bass music from 2011 or 2012, but these tracks are solid and heavy. Especially the Beats Antique remix of “Voodoo.” It’s a beast. Plus, this whole remix pack is free, so stream or signup and download:
Ill.Gates isn’t content with just his banging album Ill.Methodology: he’s also just released a weird mashup remix of George Bush vs. John Lennon - Imagine (by Mediacracy) as well as a bleep and bass-filled Friction Labs remix of a Bollywood-esque track. Some unusual bangin’ beats for a lazy Sunday:
ill.Gates is set to release his second album, The ill.Methodology, next month. Thankfully you can preview all the tracks and download his collab with Captain Hook entitled “Open Your Eyes” right now! This is future bass today, which ought to defy logic, right?
