Da Rocinha, from Sango, delivers Brazil-gone-bass: “funk carioca” taken to the future. The unsubtly-titled “Tremendo o Bumbum” delivers throbbing low-end theory layered with chopped drums and vocals. “Não Solta Não” hints at what a South American slow-jam by M.I.A. or Santigold would sound like; “Passinho Kudoro” and “Todo o Mundo” are both uptempo bangers for a dirty basement party; “Fica Caladinha” is Portuguese dancehall, heavy and sticky in the ears. Great stuff on this well-produced and nicely-fused EP off of Soulection. FREE:

Bonde do Role’s “Kilo” video takes a spaghetti Western and turns it into fruit.  The Portuguese-sung track, with 50s era guitars and a steady percussion clap is solid enough, but the video, starring Diplo as a digital cowboy, takes things to the next level.  Fruit flys, teenaged fantasies are fulfilled, psychedelic swirls and hazy lips appear, adding up to a mesmerizing visual presentation.  Mad Decent indeed:
